Reyhan da dayanamadı yer değiştirelim dedi. Tartışmaya başladılar onların sesine bir şey olduğunu düşünen Mukadder teyze geldi. Hemen yerdeki yatağı kaldırdılar. Ayrı yattıkları belli olmasın diye.
Reyhan’a ne oluyorsa bırak yerde yatsın. Sana onca sözleri söylemiş olan birine neden yer değiştirelim diyorsun? Şimdi yer yatağı da kalktı tek yatakta birlikte yatmak zorunda kalacaklar. Mukadder teyze gece namazına kalkmış, onların sesini duyunca merak etmiş. Üşütmeyin hasta olmayın dedi. Özellikle de Emir’e. O sebeple de Reyhan ile Emir aynı yatakta yanyana yattılar. Reyhan ben alışığım yerde yatmaya dedi. Emir de ya böyle yoksa yok dedi. Öylece uyudular.
Leyla, gece evden kimseye haber vermeden gidiyordu ki, Kemal bey gördü durdurdu. Leyla içinden kal demesini bekledi. Kemal bey ilk gidiş anında olmasa da son giderken biraz daha kalmasını, Masal ile vedalaşmasını, yeni bir bakıcı bulana kadar Masal ile ilgilenmesini istedi. Annesi de veda etmeden gitmişti, şimdi sende veda etmeden gidersen deyince leyla geri döndü. Babası da evden çıkmasını bekliyordu. Beklediği olmayınca kızı Leyla yı aradı. Leyla da yeni biri bulunana kadar buradayım dedi.
Sabah olduğunda ilk uyanan Emir oldu. Reyhan’ın eli Emir’in kalbinin üzerinde duruyordu. Bu kalp benim der gibi. Biz bu sahneye Ömer ve Zehra dan aşinayız. Ama onların ki çok sonraları olmuştu. Bu çiftin durumu onlara bakarak baya hızlı ilerliyor. Reyhan uyanınca Emir uyuyor numarası yaptı. Reyhan odadan çıktı. Emir bir süre daha odada kaldı.
Leyla gitmemiş evde Masal’ın saçlarını tarıyor ve gideceğinden Masal’a bahsetmedi Leyla. Şehriye abla Kemal beyden öğrenmiş gideceğini. Leyla da anlaşmamız Masal konuşana kadardı. Konuştu benimde görevim bitti. Yeni bakıcılar gelecek deyince, Şehriye abla rahatladı. Kemal bey pimpirikli biriydi öyle kolay birini bulamazdı. Öyle düşünüyordu Şehriye abla.
Sabah kahvaltısı köyde de erkenden yapılıyor ve Emir gözlerini Reyhan dan alamadı. Mukadder teyze de kocana çay koy diyerek Reyhan’ın hizmet etmesini sağladı Emir’e. Kapı çaldı gelen Reyhan’ın çocukluk arkadaşı Mehmet idi. Elinde bir sepet dolusu elma ile gelmişti. Emir merak etti çıktı kapıya tanıştılar. Mukadder teyze buyur etti içeri çay içmesi için Reyhan da çağırdı. Emir de kıskançlık krizinde içi içini yedi. Emir’in kız arkadaşı Cemre ise, Reyhan’ın da arkadaşı Mehmet bundan daha doğal ne olabilir ki? Hem Cemre gibi yan gözle bakmıyor Mehmet.
Emir odun kırarken, Mehmet kimdir, diye bilgi alıyor Reyhan dan. Elma getirdi tanıştık diye dedi. Baharın ilk elmasıymış da. Benim anlamadığım ağaçlar hala yeşermemişken bazı yerlerde yeni yeni yeşeriyorken, Erzurum gibi soğuk bir yerde baharın ilk elması ne çabuk olmuş?
Konakta bir kıskançlık krizi de Nigar yaşıyor. Eşi çocuk istiyor o yok diyor. Sefer de parfümler sıkıyor, dışarı çıkıyor gibi yapıyor dikkat çekmeye çalışıyor. Nigar da etkileniyor ama sonra oynadığı oyunu öğreniyor. İş değişiyor.
Masal için yeni bakıcı arayışında Kemal, onun içinde adaylar geliyor. Leyla da bende bulunayım dedi görüşmede. Ve Leyla kızın cv sini Kemal den önce aldı baktı ve kedi sevip sevmediğini sordu. Bayan da sevmediğini haz etmediğini söyledi. Leyla da başka sorusunun olmadığını söyledi. Görüşmeden sonra Kemal’e masal kedileri seviyor ama bu bayan sevmiyor. Sevmediği için sıkıntı çıkacağını düşündüğünden olmaz dedi. Oy oy kedi olurda sevilmez mi? Benim kedim var Allah’ım ne güzel varlık onlar.
Mehmet, tarlaya giderken Reyhan lara uğradı yemeğe çağırdı. Emir de sinir oldu. Elma, yemek fırsat buldukça geliyor dedi içinden. Sonra da şirket için toplantıya dönecekti ama vazgeçti gitmekten. Emir’in toplantıya gelmeyeceğini öğrenen Cemre çılgına döndü. Sekreter kız Emir’in gelmediğini öğrendiğinde çok şaşırmış, daha öncesinde hiç böyle yapmamış Emir.
Kemal ile görüşmeye bir bakıcı adayı daha geldi. O kişi Talaz’ın adamı. Leyla dan öğrendiği bilgileri ona söyledi ve Kemal ile Leyla’nın güvenini kazanan bayan iş başı yapacak. Talaz’ın da bu işine geliyor. Hikmet bey de kardeşi Kemal’i görmeye evine gitmişti. Masal ile konuştu. O esnada Talaz’ın adamı işe alındı. Kemal beyde bundan abisini haberdar etti. Onlar abi kardeş konuşurken Leyla’nın gideceğini Masal kız duydu öğrendi üzüldü. Hikmet bey gitti. Leyla geldi ve Masal hani beni bırakmayacaktın söz vermiştin dedi. Gitme ne olur derken babası geldi.
Emir, odun kesmiş, ellerini yıkayınca kurulamak için çekmeceden havlu alırken, Reyhan’ın günlüğü yere düştü. Açılan sayfada Mehmet yazıyordu dikkatini çekti. Aldı ve okudu. Reyhan annesini kaybettiğinde yaşadıklarını yazmıştı. Hikmet beyin gelişini oğlu ile evlenmesini istediğini bunları Emir okudu ama babasının hasta olduğu satırları okuyamadı.
